I quit sinmkog on 3/6/03 and have not had one since and not much of an urge to have one. How did I do it? Believe it or not I went to one of those hoaky stop sinmkog hypnosis seminars and it worked!! I didn't think it would work but it did. I had really no withdrawl symptoms and the only problem I had was breaking the habit of reaching for them subconsciously which I did a LOT! It's funny what we teach the brain to do we don't even realize how many times we reach for the cigarettes out of habit rather than want. Nicotine withdrawls are minimal not more than two weeks; it's the habit that is the perverbial monkey-on-your-back. Stop reaching for them do something else when that happens, change your habits like where you drink your morning coffee or get up from the table right after eating and redirect your attention to something other than having the pantented cigarette after dinner like we all do/did. And when you find your brain saying have a cigarette you need to tell it NO very firmly and remember why you decided to quit in the first place and the fact that you really don't want to start the quit process all over again at a later time. It's right now you must focus on right now is when you take charge of your life and you decide what you do to your body. I would remind myself constantly of the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for my own actions. And I got through it. So can you!

I have worked with a 16 year old boy with a similar condition. Some improvements in coping and a reduction of bed wetting occurred. However, the child eventually just grew out of this behaviour (about six months). Hard to say how much hypnotherapy contributed to his transformation. My believe is that he would have out grown the condition with or without the hypnotherapy. I do believe he benefited from a reduction in stress and an increase in confidence during this transformation.

This style of counseling could be knicknamed "mothering hypnotherapy". When done from a gentle encouraging perspective it allows for exploratory choice which encourages confident experimentation. Much as we can absorb from our mothers when they have developed a strong habit of gentle nurturing, so we can gather information, in this methodology, at a pace which does not feel contrived and forced.

On the average the response will be universal but there will be other situations which necessitate a blending of both traditional as well as Ericksonian methods. The interesting part of this latter postulate is wherein the traditional blended with Ericksonian becomes almost redundant because when gentle encouragement is used as an aside its like a mother directing the child's curiosity away from the tendency to stray in attention. It reminds me of the old saying concerning teaching a man to fish rather than giving him one.

What are the advantages of hypnosis to quit smoking? You will discover lots of benefits of hypnosis treatment. The most crucial factor is that you can find no medications required and no nicotine content involved so it's one of the safest methods. Also, it is not really high-priced and you are able to quickly do hypnosis treatment at the comforts of your residence. It is a natural technique without any side effects and gives fast outcomes in comparison to other methods.

There is another side to this of course. It is in the 'dream' ...or 'trance' stages of mind...whereby the universal spirit...or 'ki'......hands out the basis of every idea mankind utilizes. Research into the personal stories of many researchers...throughout history.....will verify this. It can be argued that one is 'entranced' or "in trance" whenever modifications are needed to any invention. The constant focus moves back and forth through the sensory systems of the brain as ideas or studied. This would be an auto-suggestion period as well as.....generally.....an unrecognized way we all move in and out of trance states while in our regular routines.

I remember when I decided to quit at 31 after smoking for 16 years. It was 'tracking' each day when the urge came to uncover exactly why I wanted a cigarette in the moment....and acknowledging this without reacting.....accomplished by deliberately altering what I was doing. It was amazing how many times I noticed a series of minor thought patterns lead to the urge. Waiting.....my patience levels.....was the major source of patterns.

!3 years passed and I was confronted by major life changes which extolled even more necessity for patience. As I watched my ex-wife's plane leave PG Airport for Texas I knew 2 things...
1. I'd never see her again
2. I was going to start smoking again to offset the issue.

7 years passed and I tired of the damn things again so I quit again. No withdrawal.

Its a helluva life ain't it !

It is amazing that spirit 'clothes' itself in such a startling creation full of preconceptions and implied reasons........while subtely offering cognition of this 'ruse' at every notion. I am reminded of one of the notable insights from Buddhism..to wit...."the search for enlightenment is the joke we find we have played on ourselves"
